What are Pattern Play Studio limited edition printed fabrics?
Pattern Play Studio Limited edition printed fabrics are fabric textiles that have been printed exclusively with my artwork and print and pattern designs. They are only available in a limited release quantity and for a limited time period. As a limited edition printed fabric, they will not be repeated - so if you purchase some limited edition printed fabric during the release, you can be sure you’re getting a piece of history and exclusivity. These fabrics or print designs in their specific colourways won’t appear anywhere else.
Why Pre-Order and what is it? How does it work?
Julie Harrison under the Pattern Play Studio brand has released a selection of her artwork, print and pattern designs and made them available to digitally printed fabric for a limited edition release through a pre-order process.
Pre-orders allow us to get the numbers right. We can place the correct order amount with our international print supplier and print only the defined amount onto various fabric bases. It means less wastage and a more sustainable option, printing only what we order. It means no risk of us having excess stock on shelves ‘waiting’ to be sold.
With pre-ordering during the limited edition print release, you select your desired print/s on the fabric bases/s and pay for your purchase in advance.
How long will my pre-order take to be delivered?
Once the Limited edition pre-order cut off date (for each design collection release) has closed, the pre-order timeframe for processing and delivery is approximately 4-6* weeks. We will place the limited edition print order with our international print supplier, confirm order, receive fabric, quality check fabric on arrival back in our studio in Brisbane, Australia, arrange cutting and packing, and ship out to you.
* Circumstances such as political unrest, extreme weather events, customs procedures that are beyond our control may mean a time extension for delivery of the limited edition pre-order fabrics. Should this be identified and occur, an email explaining the situation and approximate revised delivery date will be sent out. We thank you for your patience with this matter.
Shipping
All orders will be shipped with Australia Post (tracked parcel post). Our shipping and packaging rates are calculated by weight/volume according to the current Australia Post rates. If your order is urgent, please notify us and we will negotiate express shipping.
We offer standard tracked shipping Nationally throughout Australia. At this stage we do not offer International shipping.
Returns policy
All Pattern Play Studio limited edition fabrics are checked as part of my quality control procedure before they are shipped. I’m proud to see my artwork on the final printed fabric and I want you to be happy with your purchase.
If you find a flaw such as a printing error in the print design, (there should not be!), please do not hesitate to get in touch with me to resolve the issue, and please provide an image/photograph of the ‘fault’ to help explain the issue.
You can choose to return the fabric to us here in our studio at a cost to yourself, or take a photo to provide proof of the issue.
Please email: Julie@patternplaystudio.com
Terms are strictly within 7 days of receiving your order. I’m keen to discuss how we can rectify the issue as quickly as possible. This may be through a replacement order, or in some cases a full refund.
* Please note that with any linen blend fabric such as the linen/cotton blend we offer, natural imperfections such as slubs may occur. These slubs are characteristic of fibres derived from seeds and plants such as linen/flax and are not a print or design fault.

Fabric Use
You may use the fabric for personal sewing projects and small business products. The print designs on the fabric must not be reproduced in whole or part, and must not be scanned, or sold to third parties.
You may re-sell your unwanted fabric through a de-stash market, or through your private channels.
I love your prints and designs, can I buy them or use them?
Thanks! I’m very happy that you are interested in my artwork, print and pattern designs. I do offer products such as art prints and greeting cards in my online shop for sale here.
If you purchased fabric with my artwork from NextState print based in Melbourne, or Material Difference online, then you may use that fabric for personal use or for your own small business made products. See Copyright section above.
If you purchased a limited edition Pattern Play Studio print on fabric, you may use the fabric with the design for your own personal use, or small business made product.
To use my art for commercial gain, you need to purchase an art license. See What is art licensing below. You cannot use my designs in whole or part, without obtaining an art license.
What is art licensing?
With art licensing you are purchasing the rights to use my art for your commercial interests for a specific timeframe, in a specific territory e.g Australia or Europe, and specific usage e.g. product/category.
The copyright of the artwork remains with Julie-anne Harrison of Pattern Play Studio at all times. Once the timeframe of the license has expired, the design can no longer be used by you and all usage rights revert to us.
I offer various licensing options such as category licensing, non-exclusive licensing or exclusive licensing for your use.
Category licensing: Here’s an example of a category license. You produce wrapping paper. You license my design for your wrapping paper product, to sell in Australia for two years. Under a category license, only you have the use of that print for your product category. I would not re-license that same print to a competing wrapping paper company, but I may choose as part of the license rights, to offer it for licensing to a non-competing company with a product that is different to what you offer, e.g a wallpaper company or bed linen company.
Non-exclusive license: similar to a category license, a non-exclusive license is cost effective and ideal if you want to use my artwork on any product (not category specific), but it also means another competing company with yours may also use the same design for their similar product. I reserve the right to re-license the artwork because it is a non-exclusive license. This is rare in the art licensing industry, but it can happen. When working with clients I do try to avoid this happening as I understand it is important to stand out from other brands in the industry with a beautiful and unique print or artwork for your product and packaging.
Exclusive license: with an exclusive license, you may use the design exclusively for the specific time period, territory and product/s. No one else will be able to use the design on any competing or non competing product or industry for that specified time. The copyright of the design remains with Julie Harrison at all times. However the design is yours to use as much as you like within that time period and within the agreed territory. After the time period has lapsed, the design rights and usage revert back to Julie-anne Harrison.

Ok sometimes I can put together a newsletter, but I promise I won’t spam your inbox. As a small business I don’t have the time or capacity to do that.
